Spent the day at the beach today with good friends! Del Mar was beautiful! My back side saw the sun for the first time in years, which has resulted in a pretty nasty sunburn. Other than that it was a great day!

Palm Springs Getaway

On Tuesday afternoon, Matt called us with a suprise...we were going to Palm Springs for the night..YIPPEE! We had so much fun playing at Rancho Las Palmas' new Spashtopia water park! Can't wait to go again!

Joshua's Kindergarten Graduation

Joshua graduated from kindergarten yesterday! I can't believe how fast this last year has gone by! When asked what his favorite part if kindergarten was, Joshua said "the bus ride" on their field trip. LOL Congratulations Joshua!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!! Okay so I am not making on everyday but you have to admit I am getting better about updating this thing! Here are some pics from Easter. We started the weekend at our community Easter egg hunt. On Easter Sunday, we celebrated with a rotation of family and friends and our traditional Hyden Family Easter Egg Hunt. Haley loved every minute of her first memorable Easter!

Okay so I am going to attempt this 365 challenge thing. As you all know, I am not the greatest at updating my blog so we will see how this goes! My first picture is one of my favorite pictures from our spring break trip to San Diego! We were at Seaport Village and Haley fell in love with this toy dog in one of the toy stores.

Wow I am so bad at keeping up with my blog! So my last post was November......since then not much has happened. I finished my last class for my teaching credential and am going to take a year off before starting my student teaching. The kids are all doing well and growing up way to fast!! Right now, Jaeda is playing volleyball and soccer and is in chorus at school and girl scouts. Joshua is playing baseball and Haley just started tap and ballet. We have taken two trips to the snow, one to Mammoth in December and one in February to Big Bear. Jaeda and Joshua both learned to ski...Haley, on the other hand, is definitely not crazy about the cold weather! Overall life is good! God bless and hope all is well!

To start off our Thanksgiving break, the kids and I decided to take a trip up to Santa Cruz to visit my brother, sister-in-law, and their new baby Everest. We explored all the coast had to offer including shopping, playing at the Santa Cruz pier, and visiting the Monterrey Bay Aquarium! Jaeda was out dare devil, riding the two biggest rides on the pier! We ate our weight in fried food and enjoyed every minute of it! The aquarium was amazing, our favorite part being the otter exhibit. But the best part of the whole trip was spending time with family and some old friends (it was great to see you Holly and family!) The drive was tough, but overall it was a great trip!

We had a great Halloween! Our party was complete with a host of family and friends! We missed Nana, Papa, Uncle Steve, Aunt Beth and Everest but we had fun none the less. Hyden Summer 2008

Okay so with the best of intentions I began the summer promising to update my blog weekly. That obviously didn't happen. So here it is all at once. . . .

We had a rough start to our summer. The Monday after school let out Haley came down with a stomach virus. (Above is a shot that was taken when Haley was sick) The following Saturday the rest of us came down with the nasty little bugger. With the roughest behind us, we began our summer with a string of short but eventful trips. San Diego, Coronado, Orange County, and Palm Dessert. We did it all! Check out the pics!

Wild times at Wild Rivers, Irvine!

Wild Rivers was loads of fun. Daddy and Haley spent most of the day in the Lazy River. Jaeda jumped on the water slides the minute we arrived. (My little dare devil!) Josh was a little hesitant (as usual) but he came around and agreed to go on any of the slides that were not "inside slides". He wants to be able to see where he's headed. The most memorable part of the day was when Jaeda went on a slide that shot you out about 4 feet about the water at the end. She is so light that she skipped across the water like a stone skips across a pond. It was hilarious!

Haley loves Sesame Street so when I heard they were opening up a Sesame Street playground at Sea World I know we had to go! Haley could not believe her eyes. ELMO! ZOE! ABBY! BIG BIRD! The were all there. She ran up and gave Elmo a big hug and cried when we had to leave. We spent the rest of the day playing with our best pals, the Byrds! Thanks for a great day Byrd Family!

Hyden '08-Hotel Del Coronado

One of our little summer getaways was a weekend trip to Hotel Del Coronado. If you have never been there I highly suggest a visit. The beach is beautiful! The kids had a blast searching for shells. The found five silver dollars and a whole clam (pictured above with Jaeda). We took it home and boy did it stink! Josh and Jaeda also got to try out boogie boarding for the first time. The waves weren't great but they didn't notice. They can't wait to go again next year!

We enjoyed sun and swimming with family! Cousins are the best!

We explored the tide pools of La Jolla Shores. Haley was particularly fascinated by the crabs. Josh and Jaeda liked touching the sea anemones! It was a beautiful day!

Matt and I hike in St. Jacinto Mountain State Park

Matt and I took one last getaway before the kids go back to school. After a relaxing day and evening at Rancho Las Palmas in Palm Desert we took the Palm Springs Arial Tramway up San Jacinto Mountain. We opted for the 2 1/2 mile hike which was great. It was beautiful and it also gave us a chance to reconnect.

Haley can't wait for Fridays because Friday is Gymboree day! She love to jump, walk, and crawl all over everything! She is not so fond of the parachute but the bubbles and tunnels more than make up for it!

Kidnap Breakfast

Jaeda's girl scout troop attended the end of the year kidnap breakfast. It was a blast! We went from house to house waking each girl up and "kidnapping" them for the morning. As you can tell, we didn't even give them time to change their clothes!!

In Mazatlan we went on the "Best of Mazatlan Tour". The tour took us to a beautiful old cathedral, the cliff divers of Mazatlan, to a great little cafe for a margarita, to a show, and finally to a beautiful resort for some fun in the sun! The kids got a little antsy on the tour but they loved the beach and the resort!

Last week we took a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We had a great (and exhausting) time! We cruised with Holland American Cruiseline which we highly recommend! The staterooms were great and their were a lot of amenities!

Jaeda was in her school's talent show on Thursday, March 20th. The "Best Friends" dance group consisted of Jaeda, Hailey, Destany, Madaline, Alexis, and Chloe. They were so cute and they had a great time. Hollywood here Jaeda comes! :)

Joshua had his first T-Ball game this weekend! He had a blast although he did spend part of the time complaining that he was hungry and tired :). He played outfield, catcher, and second base. Doesn't he look cute in her uniform?

Hello and Welcome

Hello Family and Friends,

Time flies and life gets crazy. Every day I look at my kids and I can't believe how fast they are growing! In my busy life I find it so hard to keep in touch! So I have decided to try a blog as a way to keep everyone up to date on the happenings of the Hyden 5! I will do my best to update it weekly with pictures and new info about the kids. Read it as often as you like and respond if you want! I hope you enjoy it and visit often.

So here it goes.....Jaeda is now 7 and in second grade. Her favorite subjects are math and recess! he he! She recently auditioned for her schools talent show and was selected. Her and five of her friends are doing a cute little dance they came up with. For those of you who are local, the performance is Thursday, March 20th at 6:00pm. Jaeda is also a Brownie Girl Scout and she recently started violin lessons. I promise not to send audio for at least a few months! :)

Joshua is 4 and as active as ever! He has his first T-Ball game this Saturday....GO CARDINALS! Josh is also getting ready to start kindergarten in the fall. He is so excited to go to school with his big sis! He spends most of his days practicing baseball, riding his bike, playing with his cousin Jedi and playing his favorite new role of big brother to his little sister Haley.

Haley is 16 months already. She is a great combination of Jaeda and Josh. She looks exactly like Jaeda did at her age (except the curly hair) and has her loving spirit but her personality and energy is all Josh. She is playful and goofy! She is walking and has started to talk. Her favorite words are Sissy and Josh, surprise. surprise! Haley is a ball of energy but lots of fun!

Matt is busy growing his business and business is good. Builders Marketing Group continues to re-invent itself as the market changes. They recently purchased a sign shop and now have the ability to sell marketing products to all different types of businesses. And as for me, I am as busy as ever! I recently went back to school to work towards earning my multiple subject teaching credential. On top of being a student I am on the PTA board at Jaeda's school, I am a troop leader for Jaeda's Girl Scout troop, team mom for Joshua's T-Ball team, and I have recently began to volunteer for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Wow! It's a lot of work but I love every minute of it!
